Software Defined Radio Platform PCB

Orthogone's team worked closely with a long-term customer to define, architect and design a state-of-the-art Software Defined Radio (SDR) platform for its wireless communication systems.  The SDR platform is based on a high-density PCB with Xilinx Virtex-7 FPGA. It interfaces to a Freescale QorIQ multi-core processor through a PCI-e interface. The PCB also includes a DDR-3 memory bus, Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, and high-performance MIMO broadband integrated RF transceivers.

The first revision of the platform has demonstrated exceptional performances, especially the signal integrity and the RF performances. The level of performances obtained in a short-time frame resulted in faster introduction of the product to the end customers.

Orthogone was instrumental to architect and design several of the SDR platform's key software elements. Traffic shaping/policing, packet classification, PtMP airlink scheduling, and DMA controller are just a few examples of Orthogone software design team's contribution to this project.
