Software Defined Radio Platform PCB

Orthogone's team worked closely with a long-term customer to define, architect and design a state-of-the-art Software Defined Radio (SDR) platform for its wireless communication systems.  The SDR platform is based on a high-density PCB with Xilinx Virtex-7 FPGA. It interfaces to a Freescale QorIQ multi-core processor through a PCI-e interface. The PCB also includes a DDR-3 memory bus, Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, and high-performance MIMO broadband integrated RF transceivers.

The first revision of the platform has demonstrated exceptional performances, especially the signal integrity and the RF performances. The level of performances obtained in a short-time frame resulted in faster introduction of the product to the end customers.

Orthogone was instrumental to architect and design several of the SDR platform's key software elements. Traffic shaping/policing, packet classification, PtMP airlink scheduling, and DMA controller are just a few examples of Orthogone software design team's contribution to this project.

Testimonials

“We were looking for unique solutions to some of the product development challenges we were facing. Having worked with Orthogone on other projects we knew we could rely on their engineering support.

We are very satisfied with Orthogone’s work in the development of our rain sensor product - from software coding to algorithm modeling. In the process, Orthogone also helped us document a product development methodology that not only satisfied our customer but also was used to obtain our CMMI Certificate.”
